Christmas Band Concert

Christmas at the Salvation Army Kroc Center
A special concert to benefit the Salvation Army Food Bank

The Keizer Community Band and the Keizer Community Big Band will present a Christmas Concert at the Salvation Army Kroc Center on Wednesday, December 8. The admission to this concert is any amount of canned food for the benefit of the Salvation Army Food Bank. Due to the local economic downturn the Salvation Army has seen an increase in families in need. Your support of this concert with any donation means children of Salem will have a hot meal and not go to bed hungry this winter.

The Keizer Community Concert band, under the direction of Michael Koenig, will present a concert of seasonal favorites beginning a 7 PM. The concert will include the Ukrainian Bell Carol, Noel Francais, It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas, Christmas Waltz, Frosty the Snowman, Christmas Waltz, Home for the Holidays, and He is Born.

After a brief intermission the Keizer Community Big Band, led by drummer Dennis Bierman, will perform popular Christmas songs in a jazz/swing style. You'll be tapping your feet while enjoying songs such as Santa Baby, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jingle Bell Rock, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Winter Wonderland, The First Noel and Have a Cool Yule. The jazz band will also include the great jazz standards Back Home Again in Indiana, and St. Louis Blues.

So mark your calendars and be sure to attend this benefit concert featuring two great community bands composed of citizens of Marion and Polk Counties.

KAMA is excited to offer Music Together®!

In addition to our current offerings in music, dance, and acting, Keizer Academy of Music & Arts is proud to offer Music Together®, an internationally recognized early childhood music program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them. First offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.

Classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning.  Jayna Bacon, pictured at left, is KAMA's Registered Music Together Teacher.

Please see http://www.keizeracademyofmusic.org/ for information on registering for a 10-week session, or to find out more about this wonderful program!
